Who we are
Solei is a social teahouse concept that brings together different walks of life over a shared conversation.
We believe what’s missing in this world is slow spaces—where we connect with the individuals in front of us authentically without an ulterior motive, in an environment conducive to connection.
Tea brings together different cultures. Every culture has its customs of drinking tea, let it be pu-er, matcha, or tea with milk, some must have sugar and others must not… despite the differences in the type of tea, the common thread is that it is a medium that sparks slow conversations, bringing out a side of us that wants to slow down and talk.
At the moment, we are hosting pop-up events around New York City and virtually. Sign up here to stay in the loop for the next events.
Soon, we’d love to build a physical location in New York City, a third place that anchors this community, a place dedicated to the gathering of strangers.
The vision
Our vision is that Solei will become a global teahouse brand, with a flagship teahouse in every major city in the world.
“I move and travel a lot, and still have yet to find that consistent community. I continue to dream about that space that I can stop by after a long day of work, to see familiar faces and fearless strangers. I want that evening hangout lounge that is not driven by alcohol, one that feels just like a friend’s living room. And that every time I travel, I’ll find a similar space in every city.”
— Coco, Founder of Solei Slow Spaces for Conversation
I hope that these slow conversations will spark authentic connections and belonging around the world, one cup of tea at a time.
Meet the founder
Hello there,
This is Coco. Thank you for reading and I’m glad you’re here.
Since a young age, I’ve straddled across cultures (China and the US). Maybe because I grew up between very different cultures while feeling intimately connected to both, bridging people from different backgrounds became an instinctual desire.
While creating Solei, I want to create spaces where we’re not united by shared interests and similarities, but by our differences and a shared desire to listen and learn from other unique perspectives.
I love to share thoughts via writing, and most recently wrote about China
Write me an email (coco@socialhaus.co) to say hi, would love to meet you over a coffee or tea in NYC.
